NRA's LaPierre: Feinstein Wants 'Utopian World Without Guns'

The National Rifle Association’s CEO on Sunday called on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to “do its job” — and rebuked calls for more gun laws in the wake of the nation’s worst mass shooting.

In an interview on CBS News’ “ Face The Nation,” Wayne LaPierre said Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., has turned the debate after the horrific massacre in Las Vegas by shooter Stephen Paddock "into a Christmas tree on the Hill."

“I think you want to tell ATF to do its job,” he said. “It’s an interpretive issue. And they need to get the job done.”

“But not let Dianne Feinstein, which is what she wants to do, turn this all into some Christmas tree on the Hill where she brings all her anti-gun circus, she’s been trying to do for years, into this,” he continued.

The NRA, in a statement last week, called for the ATF to reevaluate bump stock devices, which increase the rate of gunfire on semi-automatic weapons and were used in the Las Vegas slaughter.

He blasted Feinstein of pushing for a “utopian world without guns.”

“There’s not a gang member in Chicago, who’s going ‘hey I’m going to get you, but first I have to go through Dianne Feinstein’s background checks.’ It’s nonsense,” he said.
