Former Vice President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump are virtually tied in the swing state of North Carolina, according to a new poll.

A Suffolk University/USA Today poll released Thursday indicates Biden’s 3-point edge falls within the poll’s 4.4 percentage point margin of error.

According to poll results:

  • 46% of North Carolina likely voters say they will vote for Biden.
  • 43% of North Carolina likely voters say they will back Trump.

Biden’s slight lead in the state is in line with results from other recently conducted polls. A CNN/SRSS poll released Tuesday found Biden had a 3-point advantage among North Carolina voters. A Monmouth University poll published on Sept. 3 logged his edge at 2 points, a Fox News poll from Sept. 2 found he had a 4-point lead over Trump.

According to a RealClearPolitics average of North Carolina polls conducted between Aug. 29-Sept. 14, Biden remains 0.9 percentage points ahead of Trump in general election polling.

Trump carried the state in 2016 by 3.8 percentage points, according to Politico. The state voted for former President Barack Obama in 2008, but flipped red to back Mitt Romney in 2012.

The race between Republican Sen. Thom Tillis and his Democrat opponent Cal Cunningham is also close, according to the poll.

Cunningham leads Tillis by 4 percentage points among likely voters. Forty-two percent of likely voters say they support the challenger over 38% who say they will vote to reelect Tillis.

The RealClearPolitics average of polling for the North Carolina Senate race, which includes surveys conducted between Aug. 29-Sept. 14, shows Cunningham ahead of Tillis by 3.5 percentage points.

The Suffolk University/USA Today poll surveyed 500 likely voters in North Carolina between Sept. 11-14. It has a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points.
