U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said her family was subjected to hate speech at the New York City Pride March on Sunday.
Haley caught flak from the LGBT community for her opposition to a federal lawsuit that challenged an amendment in South Carolina's Constitution banning same-sex marriage.
"The citizens of South Carolina spoke ... spoke something that I, too, believe, which is marriage should between a man and a woman," she said at the time, according to Fox News. "I'm going to stand by the people of this state, stand by the constitution, I'm going to support it and fight for it every step of the way."
Haley's tweet caught the attention of many on Twitter, some of whom were quick to cast doubt on her claim.
Others accused her of hypocrisy.
