Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has compared Hillary Clinton to reality television star Kim Kardashian while suggesting that the former first lady has two left feet when it comes to politics.
Gingrich, a 2012 GOP presidential candidate, made the comments on CNN’s "Crossfire" after former President Bill Clinton defended his wife’s controversial remarks on her wealth, according to
Politico.
"You have to understand the problem Bill has," Gingrich said. "Bill is to politics what Fred Astaire is to dancing, he is just automatically amazing, and he wants to have Ginger Rogers out there dancing.
"Instead [with Hillary Clinton] it’s a little bit like watching Kim Kardashian get kicked off the stage by Prince because she couldn’t dance."
He was referring to a 2011 concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City when Prince called Kardashian onto the stage. When she failed to start dancing, Prince kicked her off, saying, "Get off the stage!"
Gingrich said that like Kardashian, the former secretary of state has all the wrong moves.
"There’s a big problem, because I don’t think, as a candidate, that [she] dances very well," Gingrich added.
On Tuesday,
Bill Clinton defended his wife's commitment to the poor and to working Americans after she had created a stir by claiming she was not "truly well off."
Saying his family's post-presidential wealth has not prevented Hillary Clinton from understanding people's problems, Bill Clinton told NBC News' David Gregory, "She's not out of touch."
