Gingrich on Hillary's Muslim Comments: 'I Think She's Crazy'

(Fox News' "Fox and Friends")

On Friday, Newt Gingrich expressed his blunt opinion of Hillary Clinton's comments that Donald Trump's call for a ban on Muslims promotes terrorism: "I think she's crazy."

"This is a woman who said that the attack on Benghazi was caused by a film even after being told flatly that's not true," the former House Speaker, who Trump admitted earlier on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program is on his "short list" for vice-president.

"She is an apologist for people who are committed to replacing western civilization. Her policies are a failure."

He pointed out that it's been 15 years since the 9/11 attacks, and 37 years after "religious fanatics took over the Iranian government and illegally seized the American embassy," but still, "the Obama administration can't come to reality. They have adopted rules which make it easier to fund terrorism.”

Clinton, as a former secretary of State, is part of that administration and she "doesn't get it."

"She's completely disqualified from dealing with a world that's dangerous, because she cannot allow herself to believe these are our enemies we're talking about," said Gingrich.
"Not all Muslims. The Muslims who believe in Shari'ah [law] want to replace it. No judgment."

Gingrich, who was the House Speaker during Bill Clinton's presidency, also spoke out about Hillary's plans to put her husband in charge of revitalizing the economy.

"We closed the government twice, once for a very long period, in order to get his attention," said Gingrich. "And out of that, we both got welfare reform and the only four balanced budgets of your lifetime with [then Rep.] John Kasich as chair of the Budget Committee."

Further, said Gingrich, Clinton is claiming the biggest issue in the nation is its economy, but she's going to "hand it off" to her spouse.

"What she's going to do?" he asked. "She's going to go to funerals and he'll be the real president? This is another example of the confusion, and in Hillary Clinton's mind, about the nature of reality. If she becomes president, which I don't think she will, but if she does become president it's her job, not his job. We're not hiring him to be co-president."
