President Donald Trump’s tweet insinuating that New York will be last in line for a coronavirus vaccine is a threat and is unethical and illegal, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday during a press conference.
Trump last Friday skewered Cuomo after the lawmaker said he would set up his own review board to double check any federally approved vaccine before it got green lit in the state.
He also suggested New Yorkers would be at the end of the line for any future vaccine thanks to Cuomo.
“Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York wants to put New York at the END of the Vaccine List in that he doesn’t trust the FDA or Federal Government, even though the Vaccines are being developed by the finest Labs in the World,” Trump wrote in a tweet.
“Wish he trusted us on Nursing Homes!”
Cuomo on Tuesday slammed Trump for the comments and retorted: “We know how to handle bullies in New York.”
"If you have your own state review, I’m not giving you the vaccine. That’s what he’s saying. That’s a threat. It’s also unethical. It’s also illegal. He can’t use government power to stop distribution of a vaccine to New Yorkers because he is personally upset. But that’s what he said. And what I say is, don't threaten New York. It doesn't work. I know you're mad at us,” Cuomo said.
“I know we rejected you. I know that you feel that you are a subject of scorn and a joke in New York when you were here. I know the tabloids mock you. I know the people in this state overwhelmingly voted against you. But be bigger, be better, remember the oath you took, and try not to threaten, and try not to do anything criminal.
“The threats don’t work. We know how to handle bullies in New York. We’ve come across our lot.”
