President-elect Donald Trump is coming under fire from the Anti-Defamation League for a tweet that seemed to compare U.S. intelligence agencies to Nazi Germany.
"The President-Elect's use of Nazi Germany to make a political analogy is not only an inappropriate comparison on the merits, but it also coarsens our discourse and diminishes the horror of the Holocaust," Jonathan Greenblatt, the organization's chief executive, said in a statement that also called such "glib comparisons" offensive.
"We have a long record of speaking out when both Democrats and Republicans engage in such overheated rhetoric," Greenblatt's statement added. "It would be helpful for the President-Elect to explain his intentions or apologize for the remark."
The organization has also criticized Trump over his proposed temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States, and for his appointment of former Breitbart News executive Stephen Bannon as a senior counselor in the White House.
