Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich Monday accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and presumptive Democratic Party presidential nominee Joe Biden of using rhetoric that is "very favorable" to China's Communist Party concerning the coronavirus pandemic.
“It is very hard to understand why the Democratic Party is increasingly pro-Communist Chinese Party,” said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "You have the worst unemployment since the Great Depression you have people losing their lives every day, and you have a need for America to come together and you have Speaker Pelosi, a bitter hard partisan, who was so far to the left that she was in Chinatown encouraging people to ignore all of this a couple of weeks ago."
Further, he said, "if you listen" to what Biden says, "it's very favorable to Chinese communists."
“It is really mystifying [in] why they are going down this road when it is so obvious to virtually everybody else in the world, that in fact, it is the Chinese Communist dictatorship which has caused this enormous level of pain literally to the entire planet," Gingrich said Monday.
Meanwhile, a new campaign ad for President Donald Trump claims that Biden "stands up for China" and shows footage of him last year downplaying China's economic threats to the United States, as sentiment grows against the Asian nation in connection to COVID-19, reports NBC News.
His comments came while demands are being made to hold China accountable for the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
"It’s not a question of punishing them, it’s a question of holding China accountable, the Chinese Communist Party accountable," White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said Monday on CNBC's Squawk Box.
