House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi ripped into President Donald Trump on Friday saying his aggressive immigration policies have failed to protect the Constitution and the American people, The Hill reports.

She said the court decision blocking his travel ban is proof his administration's ineptitude, according to the website.

"It shows the American people that, whatever you might think about the ban, how the president proceeded with this was not only incompetent, but it was strategically incoherent," says the California Democrats.

"To go forward with something so significant … without even consulting with the leaders in your own administration … and to do so in a way that pretends to make the American people safe — (that) makes the American people less safe," she added.

"He has a responsibility to protect the American people … and the Constitution. He failed in doing that."

Joining Pelosi in criticizing Trump is Rep. Joe Crowley of New York, chairman of the House Democratic Caucus.

"The president needs to grow up," he said.

CNN reports Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, a Democrat, reacted strongly to the court's ruling against Trump.

"The president needs to understand the Constitution rules supreme," he said.
