Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, who has launched a write-in campaign after Joe Miller beat her in the Republican primary, is trying to take advantage of her ties with former Republican Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens, who died in an August plane crash. She told the Associated Press Thursday that she will air ads featuring Stevens that were filmed before his death,
Roll Call reports.
Murkowski declined to utilize the ads for the Aug. 24 GOP primary, but she decided to use them now after consulting with the Stevens family, she says.
Murkowski released her latest fundraising report Thursday. In the period from Aug. 5 to Sept. 30, she raised $311,000 and spent $991,000. Murkowski reported $1.2 million in cash on hand as of Sept. 30, and her report showed no contribution refunds to donors or political action committees.
