White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney insisted Sunday that if former special counsel Robert Mueller had found evidence of obstruction of justice by President Donald Trump, there would have been an indictment.
In an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” pushed back that a Department of Justice policy prohibited indictment of a sitting president.
“If they had the evidence to indict the president they would've done it and they don't because there was no obstruction,” he said.
“They could not find enough evidence to … charge him with any crime. This is over. Most folks know that it's over. … but you still have [Rep. Jerrold] Nadler [D-N.Y.] and a small part of this Democrat party, the left wing of the party bringing the entire party to the left to continue impeachment proceedings,” he added.
“Just bizarre results.”
In a separate interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” Mulvaney lashed out at Congress’ “lapse of responsibility” for border security and immigration reform.
“We’re having more success with Guatemala helping with the southern border,” but the House is “still spending all of their time on impeachment,” he said.
“Not a single week is dedicated to border security or immigration reform. A complete lapse of responsibility,” he added.
