Rep. Mo Brooks to Newsmax TV: Ultimate Goal of Objection to Declare Trump Winner

Monday, 04 January 2021 03:37 PM EST

The ultimate goal of an Electoral College challenge as "reversing the election fraud" so Joe Biden is not sworn in Jan. 20 and Donald Trump is declared the White House winner, Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., told Newsmax TV on Monday.

Biden is an "illegitimate" president, Brooks, who is among at least 100 House Republicans who plan to challenge the Electoral College's certification of Biden as president on Wednesday, told "American Agenda."

"First and foremost, we want to have honest and accurate elections that the American people can be proud of and have faith in," Brooks told host Bob Sellers."It's quite clear in the 2020 election cycle, there was massive voter fraud, massive casting of illegal ballots . . . after activities that should never be tolerated in any republic, much less the United States of America."

The "number one goal" of the Electoral College challenge is "to fix that problem," Brooks added.

"Number two is to try to make sure that the American people understand that Joe Biden is not a legitimate president," he declared. "He may be sworn into office Jan. 20 the way our system works, but he is not the one who won a majority of the Electoral College votes if you only counted lawful votes cast by eligible American citizens.

"And number three [goal], which is kind of like bowling a 300 game or hitting a hole in one, that's actually reversing the election fraud on the part of the Democrats such that Joe Biden is not sworn in on Jan. 20 . . . and Donald Trump is the winner of the election."

Brooks said he disagrees with Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., who has said under the Constitution, Congress' power is limited to counting electoral votes submitted by the states.

"He's dead wrong on this one," Brooks said. "I don't understand an argument that says you're supporting the Constitution when the Constitution is being undercut and eroded by fraud and election theft. That makes absolutely no sense to me whatever."
