President Donald Trump is the favorite candidate among the nation's millionaires, with 36% choosing him in the Q4 CNBC Millionaire Survey released Monday.

Former Vice President Joe Biden came in second with 14%, while Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., was third at 8%.

However, in a head-to-head matchup, Biden defeats Trump 48%-41%. The only other candidate who triumphs over Trump among millionaires is Pete Buttigieg, 46%-43%.

Other results from the poll include:

  • Support for Trump among millionaires has increased 4 percentage points from May.
  • Of millionaires who have donated to a campaign, the largest number have given to Trump at 39%.
  • The most popular answer on the question of the most important issue for 2020 was voting Trump out of office, at 29%, down 3 percentage points from the spring survey. In second place was the economy at 17%, followed by taxes/government spending at 10%, "draining the swamp" at 7%, and both healthcare and immigration reform at 6%.
  • The main reason millionaires support Trump is the economy, with nearly half saying he is good for it. Only one-third say Biden would be good for the economy, while more than 60% say Warren and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., would be bad.
  • A third said the economy will be the same next year, while 40% said it will be weaker and 28% stronger. Democratic millionaires are far more pessimistic, with 62% saying it will be weaker.

The survey polled more than 700 respondents with investible assets of $1 million or more, including 301 Republicans, 200 Democrats, and 247 independents. The survey, which takes place in the spring and fall, was conducted before former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg entered the race.
