Vice President-elect Mike Pence took to Twitter on Friday to praise House Republicans for a vote that marks the first step toward repealing Obamacare.
Here is Pence's post:
The House voted 227-198 to adopt a budget resolution that would allow Republicans to get a repeal bill through the Senate without facing a filibuster by Democrats.
The vote allows the 52-48 GOP Senate majority to bypass the chamber’s usual 60-vote threshold to advance the repeal bill with only a simple majority.
The Senate narrowly adopted the budget resolution on a 51-48 vote early Thursday morning.
With the votes, the House and Senate instructed key committees to write legislation repealing the Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama's signature domestic legislative achievement.
Republicans in the lower chamber have voted more than 60 times to repeal Obamacare.
