Former Vice President Mike Pence received the most votes for the 2024 Republican presidential nominee when GOP-leaning voters were asked who they would pick if former President Donald Trump decides not to run, according to a recent Echelon Insights poll, Mediaite reported.

Pence received 21% of the vote, more than double the second-place finisher, Sen. Ted Cruz, who had 10% support.

Coming in third at 8% were both Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump, Jr., the former president's son.

DeSantis had the largest surge of support, at 6 percentage points, form the previous Echelon poll asking the same question the previous month.

The poll also included Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley, and Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports, all of whom received less than 1% support from those participating in the poll.

If Trump was running, the former president was the runaway winner of a GOP primary, with 55% saying they would vote for the former president if he did throw his hat in the ring in the next presidential election.
