Former Fox News host Mike Huckabee says it was no mistake when the website Politico  reported that he said the women of Fox News Channel are "trashy" for using foul language in the workplace.

Politico has since changed its headline to say Huckabee was referring to "trashy" women in New York, and not specifically at Fox News. But Huckabee, appearing Wednesday on Fox News Channel's "The Kelly File," told host Megyn Kelly his quote in context shows he never referred to his former co-workers at Fox News.

"In the South, or in the Midwest, there in Iowa, you would not have people who would just throw the F-bomb or use gratuitous profanity in a professional setting," Huckabee said in a radio interview last Friday quoted in the story. "In New York, not only do the men do it, but the women do it.

"My gosh, this is worse than locker-room talk," Huckabee said. "As we would say in the South, that's just trashy."

Huckabee joked that Kelly herself was the only person he heard use the F-word when she accidentally mangled his name on air recently.

Huckabee said the Politico writer didn't make a mistake.

"It was an utterly fabricated lie on the part of the writer at Politico … unless he was just too lazy to read the chapter in the book that he was trying to talk about," he said.

Huckabee's book, "God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy," discusses the cultural divide in America.
