Former Askansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, the father of White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, slammed CNN reporter Jim Acosta after he had a heated exchange with with Sanders Thursday during a White House press briefing.

Acosta asked if Sanders believed President Donald Trump’s assertion that the media was the “enemy of the people.”

Sanders refused to distance herself from Trump’s assertions, saying the president “has made his position known.”

Acosta then left the briefing room.

On Friday, Huckabee wrote on his blog that Acosta misunderstands the job of the press secretary.

“Just for his edification, it doesn’t mean you stand in front of reporters giving your own opinions, or contradicting the president, or 'explaining' what he 'really meant' when he’s not told you that he meant anything other than what he said,” Huckabee wrote.

“It’s not her job to interpret what the president thinks based on her own preconceived notions,” Huckabee wrote. “I believe my daughter put it so well, I don’t need to add a thing.”
