Rep. Mike Coffman, R-Colo., a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, is urging President Donald Trump to fire VA Secretary David Shulkin, The Washington Times reports.
Shulkin "lacks the moral authority to achieve your goals of a transparent, accountable VA that is dedicated to meeting our nation’s obligations to the men and women who wore the uniform and made tremendous sacrifices in defense of our freedoms," Coffman said in a letter to Trump.
"Mr. President, you promised the American people that you would end the culture of corruption and bureaucratic incompetence that for far too long has defined the leadership of the VA, I write to ask you to relieve Secretary Shulkin of his current duties."
A VA inspector general’s report claimed Shulkin had improperly accepted Wimbledon tennis tickets and his staff had lied that he was getting an award in order to justify his wife accompanying him on a European trip last summer.
Last month, Coffman had called on Shulkin to resign.
