The media's insistence on trying to batter Donald Trump with campaign-killing questions is actually making him stronger and stronger, says Michael Meyers, president of New York Civil Rights Coalition.

"Is anyone surprised? What you just saw from Tom Llamas from ABC, Megyn Kelly from Fox News, and Jeremy Peters from The New York Times, these are so-called reporters, Chuck Todd from NBC, these are reporters who have agendas," Meyers said Friday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"They have opinions and they always put their agenda and their opinion ahead of the news and ahead of the newsmaker because they want to be the center of attention. They want to be the one on TV that says 'Well, I asked them this. I confronted him.'"

Among the confrontations Meyers referred to were Llamas' tense back and forth with Trump over the appropriateness of the term "anchor babies," and Kelly's opening question to him during the first GOP debate which focused on his comments about women.

"What is Tom Llamas from ABC doing arguing with a presidential candidate about anchor babies?" Meyers said.

"What is Megyn Kelly, the great Megyn Kelly, she says 'I was asking tough questions.' Megyn Kelly, you were not asking tough questions. Megyn Kelly, you ambushed Trump. I tuned in for a debate. It was not a debate. Most of their questions were directed at Trump."

Meyers, who is also a columnist with the New York Daily News, said that Trump's poll numbers are also soaring because "voters identity with the people who are challenging their status quo."
