A group supporting President Donald Trump is raising money to investigate journalists, news outlets, and social media platforms, according to a new report.
Axios reported Tuesday morning that the group, which includes republican consultant Arthur Schwartz, is aiming to bring in $2 million for the effort. Outlets in the crosshairs include The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, and MSNBC.
The group plans to give any damaging information it uncovers to "friendly media outlets."
Trump and his allies have criticized the media for years, saying it unfairly reports on the president and his administration. Trump has recently taken aim at Fox News, a network he has appeared on several times and one that he has praised on multiple occasions.
Social media companies such as Facebook and Twitter, along with search engine giant Google, also have come under fire for a perceived bias against conservatives.
