Former Deputy National Security Adviser K.T. McFarland called reports that Joe Biden and his team are not briefings by national security officials a “phony issue” not worth taking seriously.
McFarland, 69, who served for the first four months of the Trump administration, dismissed the concern on Newsmax TV on Monday.
“First of all, when you’re a candidate of a major political party, you’re already getting the briefings, No. 1,” McFarland said on “Stinchfield.” “No. 2, the whole point of a transition is for somebody who is new to the job to get familiar. Joe Biden has been vice president. He probably still has his security clearances.
“He’s already getting this stuff. And as far as his officials, they need to be able to read in to things, c’mon, all of Joe Biden’s top senior officials, if he is president, will all be people who were in his last administration. They’re already talking to the foreign leaders. That’s just a phony issue. Don’t take that seriously at all.”
McFarland, whose book: “Revolution: Trump, Washington and ‘We The People’” has been out since February, laughingly referred to the issue as a creation of “swap creatures.”
“I think those swap creatures multiply when you let them,” McFarland said. “And that’s why Donald Trump was elected to drain the swamp, and the swamp is fighting back ferociously. “
