McConnell: Intel Committee Will Handle Questions Concerning Susan Rice

(Fox News)

Any probe into the allegations that former national security adviser Susan Rice ordered the unmasking of Trump transition officials under surveillance will be conducted by the Senate Intelligence Committee, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told Fox News.

When asked whether he thinks that Rice should testify, McConnell said, "I have asked the Intelligence Committee, Sen. [Richard] Burr, Sen. [Mark] Warner, to conduct a bipartisan investigation of this whole episode. They will conduct it. Hopefully at the end we will find out what happened and they will issue a report, I hope, on a bipartisan basis."

McConnell added that "anything related to Susan Rice or any of these other suggestions will be handled by the intelligence committee, and we look forward to receiving their report."

Rice on Tuesday rejected the allegations made against her.

She said requests for the identities of Americans in raw intelligence reports were "not uncommon" and "absolutely not for any political purpose, to spy, expose, anything."

Rice emphasized that it is "absolutely false" that "somehow, Obama administration officials utilized intelligence for political purposes."
