House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told CNN he backs legislation to codify a 15-week ban on abortions.
“I’d support that,” he told CNN’s Chief Congressional Correspondent Manu Raju.
His comments came after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on Friday.
McCarthy on Friday released a statement hailing the court’s decision.
“We applaud this historic ruling,” he said.
