Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., hosted campaign event Sunday geared toward younger voters, but less than a dozen showed up, according to the Daily Mail.

Waters, who is running for re-election, invited her followers to the "Auntie Maxine Meet & Greet Tweet-a-thon" last Sunday, where they could meet "top social media influencers" and "Auntie Maxine, our fearless champion in Congress who taught us how to reclaim our time!"

The two-hour event failed to attract many members of the target demographic, according to the Daily Mail, which reported only 11 millennials were seen in attendance. Waters tweeted a video of the event, which shows herself and the attendees speaking.

"You can say whatever you want to say," she told attendees. "Tell us what you are thinking about, what would you like to see, not only in this election but politics in general, with your elected officials. What are you thinking?"

Some on Twitter were quick to ridicule Waters, who has been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump, but the congresswoman won over 71 percent of the vote in the California primary Tuesday, well above her Republican challengers.
