Matthew Whitaker to Newsmax: Checks 'Nailing the Coffin' on Biden Claims

By    |   Tuesday, 05 December 2023 02:46 PM EST

Monthly payments made to President Joe Biden through his son Hunter's business account are "nailing the coffin" on the president's claims that he never got money from his son's corporate entities, former Attorney General Matthew Whitaker said on Newsmax Tuesday.

"We have been told the entire time this last year that no money exchanged hands between Hunter and the president, and also we were told that he wasn't involved in any of the business dealings and that has all fallen apart," Whitaker said during Newsmax's "Newsline." "Those payments from Hunter Biden's companies are irrefutable, and this could continue to open the eyes of the American people that maybe we were being lied to the entire time."

The payments to then-Vice President Biden came after his son's business account, Owasco PC, received money from companies linked to the Chinese government and other foreign nationals and companies, financial records from the House Oversight Committee show.

Abbe Lowell, Hunter Biden's attorney, has said his client sent four monthly $1,380 transfers to repay his father for a loan for a truck he couldn't finance himself.

Meanwhile, evidence presented earlier this year by two IRS whistleblowers has proven to be right all along, said Whitaker.

"In each step, we are continuing to be told by the Biden family and by the president, one thing that turns out to be inconsistent with the facts and evidence," said Whitaker. "When I took over the Department of Justice, I made sure that everyone understood we were following regular order, and were going to do the right thing for the right reason. That is not what [Attorney General] Merrick Garland has been doing."

He added that he believes the next step will be for the House to see impeachment and that the investigation is "the ultimate power of Congress."

Further, the Department of Justice should support Congress in this matter, including when the threat of contempt of Congress charges are brought, said Whitaker.

"I think that is the next step to put some real teeth in the subpoenas, to make these witnesses show up and answer on the record under oath what they know about Joe Biden and his family's corruption," he said.

Whitaker also commented on former President Donald Trump's decision to seek permission to appeal a decision to reinstate gag orders in his New York civil fraud case to the state's highest court.

"That issue is what the former president can say as he's traveling places like, where I am, the state of Iowa, and how that is how he defends himself in the court of public opinion," said Whitaker. "It's pretty clear that this case is not serious. You know, this judge ruled that the former president and his companies were guilty without summary judgment, without even allowing witnesses or testimony to be heard."

And, as the gag order is appealed and the case [moves] through the higher courts, "a lot of this case is going to crumble and fall apart and this judge, to your point, abused his power and his orders," said Whitaker.
