Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., said she agreed with President Donald Trump in the issue over California’s sanctuary law with California Gov. Jerry Brown.
“The president is going to win this fight, and the president is right about this, and when you see how city governments are responding to the governor of California, you know that they agree with President Trump and they disagree with Gov. Brown,” Blackburn said Tuesday on Fox News’ "America’s Newsroom."
The issue is over California’s sanctuary law, which puts limitations on cooperation between local authorities and federal immigration officials. Los Alamitos voted to opt out of the law and other cities in California are fighting against it, the Fox News report said.
Blackburn said that those cities are complying with federal law. "We are a nation of laws. We abide by the rule of law. The president is right on this issue," she said in the Fox News interview.
Brown addressed the issue Tuesday, saying, "(Illegal immigrants) are human beings. They have families. It’s very important that they be integrated in a humane, intelligent way," Brown said, Fox News reported.
Trump took aim at Brown in a Tuesday tweet. "Looks like Jerry Brown and California are not looking for safety or security along their very porous border," Trump wrote in the tweet.
