Mark Penn, who once served as an adviser to Hillary Clinton, said investigators used a double-standard when probing her dealings and those of President Donald Trump.
Penn made his comments during a Friday interview on TV’s "Fox & Friends."
"I think everybody sees that a double-standard occurred here," he said. Penn maintained the probe of Clinton’s email was handled with "kid gloves," while the ongoing investigation of President Donald Trump is far more aggressive.
"Everyone sees how these two things were handled differently," he said.
"I can’t say why because I don’t know the motivations. The important thing now is that this has real relevance to American politics.
In an opinion piece for The Hill, Penn had said the Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort investigations "were never anything other than an attempt to push into a corner as many Trump aides and family members as possible and shake them down until they could get close enough to Trump to try to take him down."
