Business tycoon Mark Cuban said Friday that President Donald Trump’s proposal to impose a 20 percent tax on Mexican goods to pay for a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border could create a risk for American businesses.

Cuban, who publicly supported Hillary Clinton during the election, warned that Trump was "cutting off our economic nose to spite our face" when asked whether he cared more about American or Mexican workers.

Mexico, a major exporter of vegetables, fruits and beer, is America’s third-largest trading partner after Canada and China. Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto last week called off a visit to Washington, D.C., after Trump’s wall announcement but the two later spoke by phone and agreed to resolve their differences "as part of a comprehensive discussion of all aspects of the bilateral relationship."
