Ohio GOP Senate candidate Josh Mandel has shrunk Democratic incumbent Sherrod Brown’s lead to 4 percentage points from 7 last month, according to the
Ohio Newspaper Poll.
Brown leads Mandel, Ohio’s state treasurer, 51 to 47 percent. The survey was taken Oct. 18-23 and has a 3.1-percentage-point margin of error. Among independents, Brown leads by 54 to 38 percent.
In Real Clear Politics’ compilation of the five latest major polls, taken Oct. 18-27 and excluding the Ohio Newspaper survey, Brown has an average lead of 4.8 percentage points.
Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich launched a television ad in support of Mandel last week.
“I’m blessed to have the privilege to lead our great state, and I’m proud to say we’re turning things around and getting Ohioans back to work,” Kasich says in the ad. “For Ohio to continue to do better, we need new leadership in Washington that will put the best interests of Ohio first. We need new leaders like Josh Mandel.”
