Fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates was a "political hack" serving two masters, and now, "she's been jacked," Rep. Louie Gohmert said Tuesday.
"A good book once said and still says you can't serve two masters and apparently we had an acting attorney general that was still serving the Obama administration," the outspoken Texas Republican told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program.
"She showed herself to be a political hack and hacks have to be jacked and she's been jacked and she is gone."
President Donald Trump Monday fired Yates, an appointee of ex-President Barack Obama, for refusing to defend the executive order.
In an announcement about the decision, Trump accused her of "betraying" the Justice Department with her decision about the order banning travel from seven Middle Eastern countries for the next 90 days and blocks refugees for 120 days from most countries and from Syria indefinitely.
Yates has been replaced with Dana Boente, the U.S. Attorney in Alexandria, Va., pending the confirmation of Attorney General nominee Jeff Sessions.
Gohmert said if Yates should have taken her concerns about the seven nations included in the order to her former employer, who had singled them out in an order of his own while adjusting the Visa waiver program for those countries.
He also praised Sessions as a nominee, telling Fox News that the Georgia senator "is loyal to the constitution and not to political philosophy of the Obama years. It'll be awesome."
