The "Million MAGA March" in Washington, D.C., was an "incredible" show of law-abiding people who do not like their elections being stolen, Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, who spoke during the rally, told Newsmax TV.

"These people are upset that the law has not been followed," Gohmert told Rob Schmitt on special election coverage Saturday night. "They reserve the right to have their votes count and not be negated."

But, if the tables were turned and President Donald Trump had been declared the winner of the presidency by all the major media networks, protesters would be "burning down Washington, D.C.; they would be burning down Atlanta, Georgia, burning down Philadelphia," Gohmert said. "But these are law-abiding people, and they're doing exactly what they should be doing."

He also cited Dr. Martin Luther King's example while commending Saturday's marchers.

"Dr. King showed you come out peacefully and you make your point and you stand on your grounds until people understand you're not going away unless the law is followed; and it hasn't been followed," said Gohmert, adding he hopes the Supreme Court will eventually rule in Trump's favor that states did not follow their own election laws.

Gohmert also commented on the reports of violence at Saturday's rally, saying that from where he was at the podium at the Supreme Court, matters were peaceful, but there were problems with counter-protesters at the fringes of the rally.

"This is one of the reasons we have to have police to deal with anarchists and violence," Gohmert said.
