Hillary Clinton's campaign has raked in almost $20 million from lobbyists over the course of her presidential run, The Hill reports.

According to The Center for Public Integrity, lobbyists raised $17.3 million for Republican candidate Mitt Romney in the 2012 election.

In just a few weeks surrounding the Democratic National Convention, the Hillary Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee shared by the Clinton campaign with the Democratic National Committee and various state party committees, drew in $10.6 million from lobbyists.

"As the choice narrows between two people for president — and one person self-implodes on television day after day — it gets easier to ask people to make a bigger sacrifice and write a bigger check," said Al Mottur of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck to the Hill.

Mottur told the Hill that he's even raised money from Republicans to help Clinton.

"It's an unconventional campaign in that sense," he added. "People helping Hillary Clinton can solicit money from Republicans. That was not expected, but it has become fertile ground, given their nominee."

Clinton's opponent Donald Trump has repeatedly decried lobbyists on the campaign trail, recently vowing to end special interests in Washington at a rally in Colorado.

"Decades of special interests, decades of failure must come to an end," Trump said, according to Fox News.

Trump called for a ban on former Executive Branch officials lobbying the government for at least five years after leaving civil service.
