Lost in the impeachment inquiry over President Donald Trump's requesting an investigation into Joe Biden and his son is the fact Biden's potential "conflict of interest" needs to be looked into, according to Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.
"I like Joe Biden, he's a good friend of mine; I really honestly do like him, but somebody has to look at this conflict, and I would like somebody outside of politics," Graham told Fox News' "The Story with Martha MacCallum." "I don't want to turn the Senate into the circus that the House has become."
Graham also argued House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., does not have the power to speak for the entire House without a vote of whether it should move forward with an impeachment inquiry. Graham called on House Democrats to demand a vote.
"I can't believe they would talk about impeaching this president based on the transcript of this phone call," Graham told MacCallum, adding the contents of the call are "underwhelming."
"There is no there there."
Frankly, President Trump is right to seek information on Biden and his son Hunter's potential "conflict of interest" with Ukraine and China, Graham said.
"I want somebody to look at whether or not there was a conflict of interest involved in Joe Biden asking for the Ukrainian prosecutor to be fired," Graham, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said. "I want somebody to look at whether or not the $1.5 billion given to the Hunter Biden private equity account from China was on the up-and-up.
"I don't want to turn my committee into a zoo like the House. I think these are serious problems. I am not accusing anybody of wrongdoing. I am accusing the system of losing its way here.
"Somebody needs to look at these allegations. Trump has been looked at every way you can be looked at for years."
