President Donald Trump should be as transparent as possible about his conversation with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Monday.
"I would urge him to continue to be as transparent as possible and tell us as much as he can without compromising executive privilege so that we can understand what happened," Graham told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.
"I would just urge the president — you know, he's talking openly about the conversation — to release as much as possible," he added.
A whistleblower alleges Trump attempted to press Ukraine to investigate Biden and his son Hunter's business activities in the former Soviet Republic. The Trump administration has ordered the complaint to be withheld from Congress.
Trump on Sunday, though, implied he had discussed Biden with Zelensky, telling reporters the topic of discussion "was largely the fact that we don't want our people like Vice President Biden and his son [contributing] to the corruption already in the Ukraine."
Some Democrats are using the claims as a reason to seek impeachment proceedings against Trump.
Graham told Hewitt the public will likely find out more about the phone call in the coming days.
"You're going to be surprised about the level of transparency regarding that phone call," Graham said. "And in turn, that should put pressure on the system to find more about what Joe Biden was talking about."
