Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., took aim at Rudy Giuliani, President Donald Trump’s lawyer, over a Giuliani claim that special counsel Robert Mueller was trying to frame Trump.
"Mueller’s not above being scrutinized. He’s not above being challenged. But I’m not going down the road of saying this is some kind of exercise to frame the president," Graham told reporters Thursday, The Hill reported.
The senator pointed out that he has known Giuliani for 20 years. "His job is to represent the president… (but) I’m not buying this," said Graham.
Graham was referring to a statement that Giuliani made Wednesday, calling into question the investigators on Mueller’s team, saying that he had stocked the team with partisan Democrats, The Associated Press reported.
“They don’t have a crime. And that’s why I say they’re trying to frame him. Because if they had any sense, they would realize they’re trying to put together a case on an innocent man. And that’s what we call in America framing somebody,” Giuliani said in the AP interview.
