Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., vows to try to block any bills in the future that do not get a roll-call vote.
Congress is poised to put forth a measure that will make $250 billion in special small business loans available from the $2.2 trillion stimulus package that passed this March.
Massie has cautioned his colleagues he will protest the passage of any other bill that provides coronavirus relief with only a small group of lawmakers available in the chamber to vote. Instead, he wants a virtual voting system that would make everyone's vote transparent.
Last month, Massie created a stir when he forced hundreds of other lawmakers back to Washington, D.C. to vote on the historic coronavirus bill in person.
"Once again they're recommending that just let Nancy Pelosi pass it on her own, that we can all stay home," Massie told host Neil Cavuto on Fox Business' "Cavuto Coast to Coast" of a potential measure to boost funding. "And I'm saying that's not going to fly. It doesn't fly with the Constitution. It doesn't fly with accountability to the taxpayers."
Massie said lawmakers in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and in countries like Spain, all use remote voting as a precaution to avoid spread coronavirus.
"Look, several state legislatures have already enabled this," Massie said. "Spain has already enabled it. We're telling our kids to go to school online and Congress can't even hold a hearing online or even vote remotely. We need to change this so that people don't have an excuse for not being accountable."
