Former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway on Friday said in an interview with The 19th that it looks as if Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., “will prevail” in the 2020 presidential election once the Electoral College meets.

She also advocated for a peaceful transition of power in the interest of the nation.

“If you look at the vote totals in the Electoral College tally, it looks like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will prevail,” Conway told the news website. “I assume the electors will certify that and it will be official. We, as a nation, will move forward, because we always do."

She added, “You always need a peaceful transfer of democracy, no matter whose administration goes into whose administration.”

Conway, who was the final campaign manager for President Donald Trump in 2016, did not appear to call a Biden win a done deal, though, adding that the president will surely keep working to “exhaust all of his legal avenues,” as is his right.

However, she also said that a transition is necessary now that the General Services Administration certified Biden as the winner.

“We want the engines of government to keep going,” she said.

Conway is one of the few members of Trump’s inner circle, current or former, to say that a Biden win looked likely.
