President Donald Trump is "prepared to win resoundingly" but he isn't planning to announce his win on Election Day if the results are showing him ahead, Kayleigh McEnany said Monday.
"That is the Joe Biden crowd knowing they are on the brink of defeat, making things up, and peddling it in the process," the press secretary, speaking in her capacity as a Trump campaign adviser, told Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "This president's prepared to win resoundingly. We believe that we're going to pick up states."
She added that there is "historic Republican turnout" at the polls and that the Trafalgar Group poll "has predicted five times, including last night, that he will win Michigan again.
"This is a fake news story because they know the numbers," McEnany said. "It's why Joe Biden finally emerged from the basement and is even going places like Minnesota."
Trump also denied Axios' report that quoted three sources saying he was planning an Election Day announcement but signaled his team will mount a legal defense to ballots being counted after Tuesday.
McEnany added that the success of the president's weekend rallies should be an indication that "we have a ground game" that turns out voters.
"Democrats have made the biggest miscalculation in modern American politics by not knocking on doors," said McEnany. "They didn't start that until mid-September, hiding in the basement. President Trump will prevail on Election Day voting and beyond."
McEnany added that Trump has "earned a second term," compared to Democrat challenger Biden "who is promising us a dark winter ahead."
McEnany also spoke out against ballot-counting days after the polls close on Tuesday, because "we believe that Americans deserve to know the victor of the election on election night ... we don't believe that voters should have to wait for days on end. We know that's subject to fraud, finding new ballots out there."
