Ex-Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson said Monday on Fox News that slavery is part of America's "good history" during a discussion on Confederate statues.

"The only place that that's being done right now is by ISIS, and I really don't think that you should have leaders actually encouraging people to do these types of things, because Americans actually love their history, their culture, good and bad, because it helps them learn and it helps keep people educated about why America is so great to begin with," Pierson said during her criticism of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's call for the removal of the statues from the U.S. Capitol.

Johns Hopkins University professor and Fox News commentator Wendy Osefo fired back that the statues were "not necessarily the good part of American history," and that they don't "deserve a place on state grounds," but rather in museums.

"It absolutely deserves a place, because bad history is still good history for this country," Pierson replied.

Pelosi last week said the memorials should be moved from the halls of Congress and that statues in the Capitol should  "embody our highest ideals as Americans, expressing who we are and who we aspire to be as a nation."

Pelosi's challenge comes as violence during a rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, where white nationalists clashed with counter-protestors two weeks ago, leading to three deaths and at least 34 injuries, has stoked calls to remove Confederate statues elsewhere.
