Donald Trump will "lessen his stature" and "poison relationships" if he continues to firing off messages on Twitter and should give up the habit as the nation's 45th president, GOP strategist Karl Rove writes in Thursday's Wall Street Journal.
"What voters tolerated during the campaign now seems inappropriate for a presidential transition and is likely to be thought unacceptable once Mr. Trump takes office," Rove says.
"As a candidate, he could punch down on lesser figures and comment carelessly on foreign leaders.
"But if President Trump continues this in the Oval Office, he will lessen his stature, move markets, poison relationships and encourage adversaries to make political calculations."
Rove urged the billionaire real-estate tycoon who will be sworn-in on Friday to adopt "a more presidential stature."
