Former Housing Secretary Julian Castro drilled Joe Biden for embracing his alliance with President Barack Obama – but not answering any criticism of some of his policies, including immigration.
At the Thursday night Democratic presidential candidate debate, Castro launched an attack after the former vice president would not directly answer the question of whehter it was wrong of the Obama administration to deport so many illegal immigrants.
"This is apresident who cameup with a DACA program . . . a pathway to citizenship . . . I am proud to srve with him," Biden said, refusing to say if deportations were a mistake.
"He did the best he could do," he added.
But Castro jumped in, saying, "My problem with Vice President Biden, and [Sen. Cory Booker] pointed this out last time, is every time something good about Barack Obama comes up, he says, 'Oh, I was there, I was there, I was there, that's me, too' – and then every time somebody questions part of the administration that we were both part of, he says, well, that was the president."
Biden responded: "I stand with Barack Obama all eight years. Good, bad, and indifferent. That's where I stand. I did not say I did not stand with him."
