Jordan Sekulow to Newsmax TV: Grassroots Support Key to Trump's Reelection

People who were "kind of silent voters" can't take President Donald Trump's reelection for granted, as this year's race marks a whole new set of challenges, including the coronavirus pandemic, and will require more of a grassroots effort to succeed, Jordan Sekulow, a member of the president's legal team and executive director of the American Center for Law and Justice, told Newsmax TV Tuesday.

"He did so well in 2016, and now we deal with the new realities," Sekulow, the author of the new book "The Next Red Wave: How Conservatives Can Beat Leftist Aggression, RINO Betrayal & Deep State Subversion," said on Newsmax TV's "Spicer & Co."

For example, Sekulow said, it's not known when or if Trump will be able to resume his massive political rallies, which energize his supporters, so that makes "grassroots activism that much more important."

Sekulow said the message in his book is that if voters agree with Trump, including his appoint of pro-life judicial nominees and his economic message, as well as how he's handled the spread of coronavirus, "we've got to organize at the grassroots level in a way that we did not do in 2016."

Democrats' successes in the 2018 election caught many Republicans off-guard, Sekulow added.

"We've gotta go neighbor to neighbor and we can do that right now even with the pandemic," said Sekulow. "With social media and with phone calls, we're actually more connected in local communities than ever before. We can't be afraid. To have that Trump sticker on the back of our car."
