Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio said Sunday he looks forward to a “tough” grilling of former FBI head James Comey when he comes before the Senate Judiciary Committee to answer questions about the agency’s Russia investigation.
In an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Jordan said he thinks “James Comey has been at the center of all of this.”
“He's in every important meeting and he's the guy who went from one administration to the other,” Jordan said. “He's the one who designed the cover up and …leaked his memos to give [special prosecutor] Robert Mueller.”
“Comey is the key to all of this I'm glad he's coming in,” Jordan added. “I’m sure he will get tough questions but if I were a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee I'd focus a lot on that Jan. 5 to 17 meeting. I want to know what Joe Biden was doing there as well. And frankly I would ask James Comey this question: ‘What did Joe Biden know about this whole thing?’”
On the issue of President Donald Trump’s vow to nominate a successor on the Supreme Court to fill the seat vacated by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Jordan said Trump is just following “historic norms of this country.”
Jordan lamented Trump’s critics are hitting him “for following the law and following the Constitution.”
“The president's job is to nominate someone for the Supreme Court and it's the Senate's job to advise and go through the process and now what's happened historically he's not only following the law but the historic norm,” he added. “Nine out of 10 times when the party in the White House is the same party that's controlling the Senate… during an election year you put someone forward, they get confirmed. But only once out of eight times has someone when there's a difference in who has the White House and who has control of the Senate.”
“So this is following the law, following the Constitution, and frankly, following the historic norms of our country,” Jordan declared.
