Democrats continue to push a phony Republican "war on women" in a desperate bid to keep the Senate from slipping out of their control, says columnist Jonathan Tobin, senior online editor of Commentary magazine.
"In the battleground states . . . Democratic incumbents who are all in trouble are trying to revive the same fake 'war on women' theme that did a lot of good for them in 2012," Tobin said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"The problem is it's not working as well because the Republican candidates aren't as dumb as Todd Aiken and [aren't] saying something ridiculous. They've shown some smarts."
His was referring to the former Missouri congressman who lost his seat after saying that women who are victims of "legitimate rape" rarely get pregnant.
"Voters don't necessarily fall for the same trick two times in a row," Tobin said.
"Americans, sometimes we're dumb. But we're not as dumb sometimes as politicians think we are."
