Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff is showing a slight lead in the race for the open House of Representatives seat in Georgia's 6th Congressional District, according to FiveThirtyEight.
According to FiveThirtyEight's analysis of poll results, Ossoff's lead over Republican opponent Karen Handel appears to be increasing.
In June, polls showed Ossoff leading with 51 percent, and Handel 46 percent. While in May, the difference between the candidates was slimmer — 49 percent to 47 percent.
The race is still too close to call.
Handel, Georgia's former secretary of state, and Ossoff, a former congressional aide, are running for the House seat that Republican Tom Price held until he was confirmed as the secretary of Health and Human Services under President Donald Trump.
In the first round of the runoff, Ossoff won 48 percent of the vote while Handel earned the most votes of all the Republican candidates, with 20 percent.
In the June 20 vote, Handel would need almost all the votes that Republicans earned in the first round of the runoff, FiveThirtyEight noted.
A poll shows Handel earning about 80 to 85 percent of votes that went to the other Republican candidates, according to WSB-TV.
FiveThirtyEight noted that she would require closer to 100 percent of those Republicans in the runoff to outdo Ossoff.
However, Ossoff has a "much smaller hill to climb," and to earn a majority of the votes, he needs to pick up around 4 percent of the Republican voters from the first round, according to the report.
A CNN poll on Saturday showed Ossoff with a 7-point lead over Handel.
