Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., on Sunday said a cascade of leaks set up the “Russia narrative” against President Donald Trump in his first months in office.

In an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Johnson decried the process that aimed to “sabotage the administration”

“This process of leaks … 125 in the first 126 days, to set up this Russian narrative,” he said started with “Russia helping Trump and then all of a sudden the Trump campaign.”

“From what I've seen I really do believe there's an effort underway from the day after the election — they actually started before that, but really kicked into high gear the day after the election — to sabotage this administration,” he said.

“Look at what it resulted in — an impeachment trial,” he added. “So there's an awful lot to be uncovered and that the American people need to understand.”

Johnson, who heads the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said there’s a list of over 30 people who he’ll want to question about their alleged participation in the effort.

“We have a list of 35 people currently, very similar to what [Sen.] Lindsey Graham [R-S.C] is going to be working on as well,” he said. “There will be some overlap but we'll let Lindsey Graham focus on the FBI, the Department of Justice, of the corruption of the FISA process and we'll be listening very carefully to his hearings and probably calling in those witnesses for follow-up questioning.”
