Sen. John McCain on Tuesday confessed he's "very worried" that Republicans will lose control of the House of Representatives in the midterm elections.

McCain cited a lack of accomplishments at a Wall Street Journal event for chief financial officers.

McCain was asked about the Senate's progress on crafting healthcare legislation, to which the Arizona Republican said he would know more next week. But overall, McCain isn't happy with what the GOP has accomplished.

"I'm very worried about losing the House of Representatives," McCain said. "If we went to the polls tomorrow, what have we done? (Supreme Court justice Neil) Gorsuch and rolled back some regulations . . . which have been very helpful to small businesses. But average citizens? I don't think that we've accomplished much."

Despite majorities in both houses of Congress and a Republican in the White House, the only legislative accomplishment for Republicans was the passage of the American Health Care Act, which the Senate is the process of tearing while writing their own version.

The event also featured Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, Republican Reps. Kevin Brady and Greg Walden, as well as Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff.
