Forty-seven percent of registered voters approve of the job President Donald Trump is doing, according to the latest NBC/WSJ poll.

The rating ties his all-time high in the survey and is up one percentage point from last month.

Additionally, 53% of voters say they approve of the way Trump has handled the economy.

The poll also found:

  • Trump trails five major Democratic candidates in hypothetical general election matchups.
  • Sen. Bernie Sander, I-Vt., leads in the Democratic race by double digits, 27%, followed by former Vice President Joe Biden with 15%, former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., with 14%, and former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor, Pete Buttigieg with 13%.
  • Bloomberg is up by 5 percentage points, while Biden is down by 11 percentage points.

"There is one clear and inescapable set of results: Bernie Sanders is the definitive front-runner, and the current numbers do not represent his ceiling, but instead his base with room to grow," said Democratic pollster Peter Hart, who conducted the survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies.

"His downsides are there," Hart added of Sanders. "But they've yet to be exploited by his opponents."
