Ex-Obama Campaign Manager: It's Hillary's Turn to Be President

By    |   Monday, 02 February 2015 03:44 PM EST

Former Obama campaign manager and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina said Priorities USA, the Super PAC of which he is co-chairman, will be "pouring" its money into a Hillary Clinton candidacy.

"We want Hillary Clinton to be the next president of the United States. It's her turn and her time. I think she would be the right leader for this country moving forward. We're going to do whatever it takes to make sure she's the president of the United States" Messina told MSNBC host Ronan Farrow, a statement which drew some applause from the crowd.

The Super PAC announced on Jan. 23 that Messina would serve as the committee's co-chair with former Michigan Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm.

"We couldn’t be more proud and excited to be joined by Jim Messina and Gov. Granholm, whose leadership and political acumen will be invaluable in our effort to elect a Democratic president in 2016. We are here to make sure that progressive values are not drowned out by right-wing organizations, and that the necessary resources are in place to give the middle class a voice in the 2016 election," said Priorities USA Action Executive Director Buffy Wicks in a statement.

That same day, Priorities USA Action, a "super PAC" announced its formal alliance with Clinton and that it would begin to fundraise on behalf of the former secretary of state's possible run for the Democratic nomination, reported The New York Times.

"I think the numbers clearly show that she’s the strongest presidential candidate on the Democratic side. And Priorities is going to be there for her if she decides to run," Messina told The Times.
