Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said attacks against him claiming he had knowledge of sexual abuse at Ohio State and ignored it are possibly because of Democrats.
"The way it seemed to me, it was sequenced and choreographed, and the left, and everything they've done, I guess you'd have to look at that," Jordan said Thursday on Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "I find all that suspect.
"All I can do is tell the truth and keep fighting for the folks back in the fourth district of Ohio, and doing what we told the American people we were going to do. That's what I'm focused on," Jordan said in the interview.
Jordan said the allegations could be due to his success working with President Donald Trump.
"I'd like to think that the reason you see the left coming after me and lies being told is because we're being effective . . . I also think it has something to do with the fact that I think President Trump is doing a great job and we are trying to support him,” Jordan said.
No abuse had ever been reported to him during in his Ohio State tenure, Jordan said.
"I knew of no abuse. Never heard of it. Never had any reported to me. If I had, I would have dealt with it," Jordan said in the Fox News interview.
Jordan was an assistant wrestling coach at the university from 1987 to 1995. Several wrestlers had accused him of knowing but failing to report sexual abuse by the team doctor.
The congressman's spokesman confirmed Wednesday a law firm in the Ohio State probe had interviewed Jordan.
